Wanted: low-stress job in a casual and creative environment for intelligent individuals, which allows one to think and rewards one for doing a good job with additional compensation rather than additional mind-numbing and energy-sapping work. Much to our surprise, today was Communication Day at work. Management buttered us all up by bringing in a good lunch from outside, before telling all of us that we are getting no raises, and no bonuses this year. Even though my division is pretty much the only one in the company that actually made [...] I’m mired in a pretty deep funk, and I don’t know what to do to get out … I want to quit my job. I want to sell my bikes. I want to simply disappear … Instead, I think I’ll go try to get some sleep. Picked up a link from Joe Lindsey over at the Boulder Report yesterday. I met Joe a couple of times back in 1995 or 1996, when I interviewed for an associate editor gig at the old Bicycle Guide magazine. Grant Petersen, at Rivendell Bicycle Works (for whom I was the web guy at the time), [...] I have a lot of pride in the company that I work for, even though I sometimes get really frustrated by my job. And of course, being the obsessive sort that I am, I have to learn everything I can about the history of my firm … which means that even though I lived it [...] … one of the PMs at my office gave notice this week, to move to a similar role at another investment bank, but this time in North Carolina. … his colleague will be moving into the senior PM role, and a job posting for the junior PM role should be posted early next week. I hate it. The Interpublic Group is a consortium of the world’s largest advertising agencies; Kim will be the Technical Project Manager (exactly what that entails, I haven’t a clue), working on one of the firm’s largest accounts.
