2010 Ride #27

View Ascent activity on 04-Jul-10 at 02:38PM in a larger map

Legs said “Woohoo!”; lungs said “Fuck you, and the bike you rode in on!” … forgot to dope up this morning, and the asthma definitely kicked the shit out of me today, especially on the climb from Cotton Bottom up to the mouth of [...]

2010 Ride #23

Screwed up the GPS today; so you’ll have to take my word for it.

Down Holladay Blvd. to Cotton Bottom, then up past the Old Mill to Porcupine. South on Wasatch to Danish Road; Danish to Bengal Blvd. to 27th East, back to Porcupine on Fort Union, then dropped back down past the Old Mill [...]

2009 Ride #38

Kind of hot, but very, very muggy today, making breathing difficult for a fat, out-of-shape old punk like me, but still managed to roll-out another 28 miles, bringing my annual total to 802 thus far this season; not a lot, I know, but still more than I did during the entirety of [...]

2009 Ride #25

Another Wasatch mini-loop, this time in reverse into Cotton Bottom then up past the Old Mill to Porcupine, then north on Wasatch to 33rd South, then back home. Lungs felt okay today, but had a small sciatic flare-up. Not happy at all with my form right now … I know I don’t [...]

2009 Ride #17

Legs felt good today, lungs and heart rate less so … had to hit the inhaler a couple of times, and my pulse never once dropped below 135; most of the time it was hovering around 160; and really the only thing that really brought it down that low was the lower [...]

2009 Ride #6

In 2008, I didn’t get on my bike until March 15th. It was the end of May before I even attempted Emigration Canyon (turning around at Ruth’s Diner), and the end of June before I made it to the top of Little Mountain.

Today is March 1. Thus far this year, I’ve [...]

2009 Ride #4

Second longest ride of the season, and first ride with more than 1000′ of climbing; hit 1400′ in about 22.5 miles. Heart rate was high from the get go; topped out a 179 (higher than my theoretical maxHR, and according to MotionBased, that is zone 7.1), and except for the first couple [...]

Old Mill X 2

Whilst others are out there suffering/enjoying 206 miles in the saddle from Logan to Jackson, I feel quite pleased with myself for getting out there and accomplishing a whopping 13.95 miles (but twice up Big Cottonwood Canyon Road past the Old Mill.

I seriously think this has been more of a wasted season than last [...]

A few more miles in my legs

As soon as I got out on the road today, my tooth (the one under the temporary crown) started hurting … higher blood pressure, perhaps, causing it to throb? In any case, since the air actually seemed fairly clear of particulate matter today, I decided to push on.

Definitely didn’t have the [...]

End of Tour ride

Now that the Tour is over, it’s time to get off the couch and back on the bike … of course, 3 weeks off, when you’re already not fit, can be painful when you do get back on.

The Garmin didn’t record yesterday’s ride properly, but here’s today’s …
