… what would motivate a person to try and get another person kicked out of their affiliate programs.
In looking through my stats today, I’m seeing a really high number of consecutive clicks into this site, and from there to an ad on my site; then back to the site, and to another ad; then back to the site, and to another ad.
Oddly, most of these clicks seem to be coming from one computer, all at the same location. In fact, I got more clicks from 5:30 - 6:00 Mountain Time than I generally do in an entire day. This is the sort of thing that raises red-flags with ad providers, especially when those clicks account for more than 80% of the traffic during that half-hour period.
Research seems to indicate that normal click-through rates are typically between 0.5% and 4% … what do you think is going to happen if an ad-provider all of a sudden sees click-through rates jumping from that level to 25% or more, and nearly 80% during a given time slot?
I wonder if there is a way for a content-provider to restrict certain IP addresses from accessing a particular domain.

One of the things I really like about my new iPhone is the number of apps available (many for free) to expand its capabilities. One such program is the new WordPress for iPhone app, which gives the WordPress-based blogger the ability to update a blog from anywhere.
Most mobile blogging applications merely give one the ability to upload a photo with a brief caption over MMS, whereas this app gives the moblogger a good clean admin interface from which a full post can be posted, as I’m doing with this very post.
I’ll have to play with it more to figure out all its functionality but so far so good.

… what’s with all the fascination about pro cyclists’ personal lives?
Recent search strings leading people to my blog:
- Tyler Hamilton divorce
- Tyler Hamilton IRS
- Lance Armstrong divorce
- Will Frischkorn divorce
- Greg Lemond divorce
- Richard Sachs gay
- Michael Balls Floyd Landis
- Floyd Landis gay
- Tyler Hamilton gay
These are all Google search strings that have shown up recently in my SiteMeter stats, and you’ve got to dig pretty far in to Google results to hit my site from some of these …

It’s really starting to sink in that this ostensibly cycling-related blog has very little cycling-related content anymore.
I’m really going to have to do something about that.

I actually managed to post something every single day in April.
I don’t think I’ve ever managed an entire month where I posted every single day, so either I’m now truly addicted to blogging, or I finally feel like I have something to say …

… I need to take a page from Big Jonny’s book over at DrunkCyclist.com, and start posting porn on my blog. Either that or celebrity sex stuff.
Already the posts which gets the most traffic are a post from this past November indicating that curvier women are smarter (and my attraction to same) which features a vintage photo of a woman’s naked behind, and my celebrity sex list, with a nice photo of a fully clothed Cate Blanchett.
Then, earlier this week, I posted a video from the New Pornographers, and boom … another traffic spike. I still haven’t figured out what search words people are using to find these pages either, because even entering very specific search terms like “Cate Blanchett celebrity sex list” puts me well down the second page of results. I mean, my site is hardly search engine optimized for celebrity porn.
But such is life. It brings me some traffic, and perhaps some of the people who hit the site like it enough to keep coming back and my readership slowly grows. And that can’t be a bad thing.

It is utterly fascinating what goes on in the heads of some of the local CX racers, especially during the off-season.
When I’m not up one of the canyons pretending I know how to ski, I’m busy playing with my new D80, pretending I know how to be a photographer, occasionally coming up with a decent shot; or tapping away on my keyboard, pretending I’m a writer, occasionally coming up with a reasonable blog post or poem … at least when I’m not quoting others.
And soon it will be spring again, and I can go back to pretending I’m a cyclist … although my new office is close enough to home, that perhaps I can actually stop pretending that.
