Felt much better on the bike today; not great … not even good … but better than yesterday, which isn’t that difficult to accomplish. Struggled up Emigration to the first switchback at Pinecrest, then along Wasatch over Parley’s Way. Stopped at Barbacoa to grab a burrito (stuffed into my jersey pocket), then [...]

I kind of felt like the space shuttle Challenger today … I pretty much exploded immediately after launch. AvgHR 168bpm, MaxHR 184bpm … on the flats, while doing a whopping 15 mph. The absolute lowest my heart rate got was 143bpm …

The bright side is that I finished the loop, [...]

I Think I CANyons Benefit Ride

Got the following email from local Utah rider Alex Rock this afternoon. Seems like a great cause, so reposting in the hopes of generating some interest for the ride.

For those that don’t already know, I am planning a charity bicycle ride this summer to raise money for the Fourth Street Clinic (an organization that [...]

TMAC Memorial Crit

Looking forward to seeing more info being posted about this; not only because it’s practically in my back yard (you know, if I had a back yard), but for whom it’s honoring.

1st Annual Terry McGinnis Memorial Criterium

I wonder where exactly the course will be … I hope it’s the triangle formed by 45th [...]

Emigration to Pinecrest. Felt like crap; my lungs were NOT cooperating today in the slightest, even after stopping to take a couple hits off the inhaler.

I did get a nice waffle hand-up from my friend Waffles, as she and another friend drove [...]

20th East to Sunnyside to Emigration to the summit of Little Mountain, then Wasatch to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, dropped the Old Mill, then Holladay Blvd home. 38.15 miles (longest of the season thus far), 2537 feet of climbing (most vertical of [...]

Felt much better today than Friday; most likely because it wasn’t as hot … and because I didn’t have to deal with multiple wasp stings. Emigration to Pinecrest, but instead of home via 20th East, I came back along Wasatch. Had to stop at Canyon because my shifting was off. You’d think [...]
