I will never understand how I can spend one day with my heart rate well up and over 160 bpm for hours and feel fine, but the very next day feel like vomiting when the heart rate gets above 140.
Once upon I time, I rode my bike to forget my problems. I was living in San Francisco, making very, very little money, I was probably in my the worst depressive state of my life … and yet, I weighed 150 lbs, averaged 100-125 miles/week (if not more), and rode probably 350 days per year.
Now, I ride to try to remember … what it’s like to feel good on the bike, what it’s like to not gasp for breath constantly. And one of these days, I’ll find it again.
