My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Bryner family, but especially to Cat 1 bad-ass Norm Bryner, whose father was killed this morning.
SALT LAKE CITY — A 47-year-old Salt Lake City man died early Friday, after being hit by a semitrailer truck while riding his bicycle.
Norman Bryner, 47, was riding across the intersection of 2100 South and 600 West, just before 6 a.m., when he was struck by the truck that wasn’t hauling a trailer, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Todd Johnson said.
“(The driver of the truck) was stopped at a light and was preparing to turn right,” Johnson said. “As he made the right-hand turn, he felt that he had obviously run over something and he stopped.”
Johnson said Bryner went under the left side of the truck and was dragged under the truck, along with his bike, for over 130 feet. After medical personnel arrived, Bryner was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition. Johnson said he was notified that Bryner died around 9 a.m.
He said the UHP has not issued any citations and has turned the case over to the District Attorney’s Office.
The driver of the truck was not injured. Johnson said alcohol or drugs are not currently considered as factors in the incident.
Norm, your dad will be with you always … now, and as your career on the bike continues to progress.
