Mission 1 accomplished … climbed to the top of Emigration Canyon for the first time this season today. Of course, now I am completely knackered. Legs hurt (a good thing). Tummy hurts (not a good thing). Head hurts (also not a good thing … probably a bit dehydrated still). But the aches and pains are totally worth it.
In 2008, I didn’t get on the bike until March 15, and didn’t make it to the top of Emigration Canyon until June 29.
Today is March 14, and I’ve already completed Emigration … and that’s what feels good, knowing that even though I still have a lot of work to do to get into shape, I’m already well ahead of where I was last year.
Saw Ohran and daughter Bella heading out on the tandem to do the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Saw T-Bird on the bike patch over I-80 heading north, as I was heading back south to get onto Wasatch. Ran into Rich Caramadre and Lisa Fitzgerald at the end of the bike path on Wasatch, and rode with them until 4500 South, where I dropped down the hill to head home, instead of taking Wasatch all the way down to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon and coming back up Holladay Blvd. as I normally do.
It was a good day.
