Major Clinton fundraiser switches to Obama

(CNN) — A “Hillraiser” – a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton – said Friday he had defected to Barack Obama’s campaign. The official announcement will be made next week.

Gabriel Guerra-Mondragon – who served as ambassador to Chile during the Clinton administration – had raised close to half a million dollars for Clinton’s campaign, reports Chuck Todd, who broke the story.

“We’re just bleeding each other out,” Guerra-Mondragon told the Washington Post. “Looking at it as coldly as I can, I just don’t see how Senator Clinton can overcome Senator Obama with delegates and popular votes. I want this fight to be over, the quicker the better.”

He added that leaving the Clinton campaign for Obama’s “was a very, very difficult decision for me to make. I am an old and longtime friend of Senator Clinton. And I continue to think she is a fantastic and formidable person. But I am first of all a Democrat.”

Please, please, please let this be the beginning of the end. I don’t want to have to vote for John McCain to have Bush-Clinton-Bush stop there.

  1. Why can’t other people be a realist and see how polarizing Hillary is and the kind of temperament Bill is? This is about the democrat party and our country regardless of race and how urgent it is to change the tone and atmosphere of politics, personal destruction and empty promises just to get elected and just telling people what they want to hear while flip-flopping in between. It takes a good courage to accept and concede when it’s lucid that defeat is already before her. Accept the reality that Obama would be the party’s nominee. Sorry, Hillary, but you lost a big chunk of credibility when you keep changing your statements and obviously how you have demonstrated how polarizing you are ever since and making impossible promises just to earn the votes. We all have our own likes and dislikes about a candidate, but we have to be as realistic as possible and accept what is the obvious. Calling somebody judas is an ethical dilemma and taking things personally. It doesn’t mean that somebody is new to politics that he can’t deliver. Over-inflating the years of experience and making incredible statements, Hillary wants to portray how perfect she is. Healthcare was their platform and it made people believe that’s for the big part the reason why her husband got elected, but they just never gave it a big fight during his tenure and consequently just made people down. Sometimes it takes a new breed of politician to make things transpire and he just can’t be prejudged on what he is capable of doing. He is well-educated. Give him a chance to prove himself. We just can’t judge a book by its cover, as the saying goes.
