One of the really nice things about sitting in a big-stupid-truck™ calling numbers and flipping lap cards is that you don’t look nearly as fat as you really are. Help build a velodrome in Utah … Salt Lake County, Davis County, Summit County … heck, even Wasatch or Weber Counties would work. I started. I finished. I came in dead fuckin’ last, 2 laps down on the leaders (including women’s leader Kathy Sherwin, and possibly Dayna Deuter as well), and at least 1 lap down on the entire field. But I finished. I didn’t wimp out again; I didn’t quit … I did take the “shamelessly honorless” [...] Yup, you read it … I wimped out of today’s cross race … again. Got up early this morning to a balmy 65-degrees … on the drive up to Ogden, I saw 54 degrees, then 49 degrees, then 45 degrees on various thermometers.
