Best Hallowe’en movie ever …

Sitting in the dark …

Sitting in the dark, avoiding sleep … listening to podcasts of old “This American Life” episodes … pondering why people (and not just sk-HAWT) think that poetry is weird, but really get into music and lyrics; especially since lyrics are simply poetry set to melody.

Okay, sure, for some people music isn’t about the [...]

Quote of the Day

October

the air smells of rain and is a perfect grey

the sad old buildings lean against it

a beauty you would have to see to understand

today my sadness is bigger than Jesus but there is a joy even in this

a quiet bar on Polk Street something to drink and [...]

Video Poetry (the unlucky part)

RANCID – FALL BACK DOWN

Don’t worry about me, I’m gonna make it alright Got my enemies cross-haired and in my sight I take a bad situation gonna make it right In the shadows of darkness I stand in the light

You see it’s our style to keep it true I’ve had a [...]

Blog blankness

Short ride today …

Just under 10 miles through Holladay & Cotton Bottom, then west into Murray and home … short ride is better than no ride, but my legs definitely felt a little flatter than yesterday, even though my aveage speed was higher (and average heart rate was lower).

What the heck happened?

I rode my bike today … and I’m not sure what’s wrong with me, but I actually enjoyed it, too!

Oh, sure, I struggled in a couple of spots, but nothing significant … but the weather was perfectly cool and sunny (although we do have a bit of an early inversion socking in the [...]

Poetry Friday

Leaving It to You

Self evident, truth mistakes no thing.

But my heart’s a long way from there and nothing’s very clear.

Yellow gold is almost burned up by my desire.

White hair grows by the fire.

Bitter indecision: choose This, or maybe That.

Even the spirit speaks in riddles and makes it hard [...]

Quote of the Day

“Cyclocross is the opposite of sex—if you’re doing it right it hurts, and it’s only fun before and after.”
