I broke down and went to the UUHC urgent care clinic after work on Thursday … because apparently my body is breaking down more than I would like; this sciatic problem just won’t go away.

I’ve been to a chriopracter, it seems like his initial adjustment actually made thigns worse, rather than better, although I do like the BioFreeze samples that he gave me as a topical pain reliever.

The UUHC doc gave me a prescription for Flexeril (Cyclobenzaprine HCl), which is a muscle relaxant, and for Naprosyn (Naproxen), which is essentially prescription strength Aleve.

I’m supposed to get a call from the UUHC on Monday about starting a physical therapy regimen, and I have an appointment on the 23rd with Greg Freebairn at Back In Motion … another chiropractor, but one who is a cyclist, and as such really understands our special needs. Not to mention that when I put out a request for suggestions on the UCA mailing list, about 85% of the responses I got (and there were many) recommended him.

So we’ll see what happens. In any case, I’m planning on getting out today to see if last week’s lack-of-pain on-bike is still there … could use the exercise, and the pain relief, even if I’m working hard rather than relaxing.
