We Have Lost Even

We have lost even this twilight.
No one saw us this evening hand in hand
while the blue night dropped on the world.

I have seen from my window
the fiesta of sunset in the distant mountain tops.

Sometimes a piece of sun
burned like a coin between my hands.

I remembered you withe my soul clenched
in that sadness of mine that you know.

Where were you then?
Who else was there?
Saying what?
Why will the whole of love come on me suddenly
when I am sad and feel you are far away?

The book fell that is always turned to at twilight
and my cape rolled like a hurt dog at my feet.

Always, always you recede through the evenings
towards where the twilight goes erasing statues.

  — Pablo Neruda (1904 - 1973), Chilean writer and Communist politician.

That was fast!

» by flahute in: Life on February 9th, 2007 at 06:34:07 UTC |

Had a chat with K. tonight online, checking to see if she got the signed acceptance of service that I mailed back to her on Tuesday.

It has been received, and turned in to the courts, and since we signed the waiver of 90-day waiting period, it looks as though this whole thing may be finalized by the end of next week.

That’s really fast. I would have thought that, even with an uncontested divorce, that the process would take longer, that there would be a hearing if only for the judge to ask both of us if we agreed to all the terms … but, apparently not.

Whoduh thunk?

Seems like Train is going through a bit of a rough patch in his own personal life, as is the Damsel … and I know other people who are dealing with other issues as well.

Something’s in the air, and all I can think of is that it came in with the inversion (and lack of snow), and none of the storms have been strong enough to blow it back out again with the smog.
