UTCX makes its mark in Providence

A-Train may not necessarily agree, but I think that the Utah Cyclocross Series riders (including one or two from Idaho) had an outstanding showing at the first day of CX Nationals in Providence, RI.

Art placed 8th in the 40-44 race, which he finds disappointing after last year’s 2nd place. Jon Gallagher finished 16th in the 35-39 field, with a couple broken ribs from hitting one of the barriers at the final race in Ogden last weekend.

Chris Pietrzak narrowly missed out on taking the win, finishing 2nd, in the 30-34 race, followed by Sam Krieg in 6th.

I am truly thrilled that Utah riders are doing so well on a national level … and really wonder how Bart would have done had he been able to ride, since he has pretty consistently beaten Pietrzak this year (although Chris did take the Utah State Championships, when Bart was sick).

Dr. Cross and Dirk Cowley both DNF’ed their respective races, but they made the trip out and started, which is far more than I’d ever have the cojones to do.
