Several days ago I posted a QOTD stating that there’s no such thing as bad weather. I stand corrected.
When this happens, all I want to do is get up out of the valley, into the mountains, preferably to ski … unfortunately, this year, we still don’t have a whole lot of snow at a lot of the resorts; even if we did, due to the kidney stone I had back in February, I don’t have any personal or sick time left to just call in and take off up one of the canyons for a day.
So, I have to go to work, and stare out the window at the godawful haze, wishing for the moment that I was anywhere else.
This would probably be a good time to practice some of the mind-clearing exercises I’m learning from Pema Chödrön’s books.
In the meantime, the weather forecast is for a chance of snow on Friday and Saturday.
Utah Cyclocross Series finals in Ogden on Saturday, so it would be nice to get a fresh layer of snow down in the valley; and a nice dump of fresh snow up in the mountains … I still haven’t been up skiing yet, because I’ve been waiting for the conditions to get a little better, but I’m jonesin’ pretty hard.
I may have to just suck it up and go anyway, regardless of the conditions, just to get that first day in my legs. The only bad day I’ve had skiing was at Alta last year, when I caught an edge coming off the very first lift and torqued my knee. I still skied all day, but it was definitely a ginger day.
Pray for snow!
