So as previously mentioned, the lithotripsy which I had done last week to bust the kidney stone didn’t work.

So they had to do a ureteroscopy …

Unfortunately, the stone was too big/hard to crush, so they had to extract it using the little wire basket thing. In the process, they kinda tore up the insides of my ureter (the tube between the kidney and bladder).

Essentially, I’m one of the 2-4% of patients for which there are minor complications …

The doc had to put a stent in to keep the ureter open; which causes its own issues. Like, it now hurts like a mofo to pee, and I have to pee about every 45 minutes to an hour.

The stent should be removed on Monday, and hopefully everything will be back to normal in about a week or so.

Needless to say, the past few weeks have sucked. First the flu, then immediately after that I get the kidney stones.

The docs told me that violent coughing and/or vomiting (which I did when I had the flu) can dislodge a stone, which is probably what happened.

The stone is about the size of a black-eyed pea, which for a kidney stone is pretty big.

At least it’s finally out, and once my insides heal up, I’m looking forward to getting my life back to normal.
