After a long, hot summer, ski season has finally arrived in Utah. Brighton opened on Thursday, 11/17, and I just got an email alert from Solitude Mountain Resort that they are opening two lifts on Monday, 11/21.
The anticipation has been killing me. I went skiing for the first time in 20 years this past January. Immediately, I thought, “What the fuck have I been doing all this time? I’ve lived in Utah for 4 years, and this is the first time I’ve been up on the slopes?”
No more. Bought new skis, boots, bindings and poles a few weeks ago, and now have just been waiting, and praying, and waiting, and praying for snow.
Still none in the valley, but it’s starting to accumulate in the mountains, and enough that both of the Big Cottonwood Resorts are now in the process of opening.
A couple more weeks of cyclocross racing (and some time to get a little more snow up there), and then I’m heading up the canyon as often as I can.
